1. Bring Your Own Toilet Tissue
Because this virus is spread through droplets in the air, any surface, especially surfaces that love moisture i.e. toilet paper can be contaminated easily.
When leaving your home bring your own toilet tissue in a sandwich bag.
Toilet tissue is one thing that you can’t wipe down and can’t disinfect. It’s also something that can easily latch onto someone’s droplets from sneezing, coughing, or even their hands.
2. Friction + Hot Water
When washing your hands the two most important things are the temperature of the water and the friction you produce when rubbing your hands and skin.
You should know by now to not only constantly wash your hands but to wash for at least 30 seconds to protect yourself from the Coronavirus.
- Rub your palms/surfaces vigorously for 30 seconds
- Allow the water to be hot, but bearable.
- Make sure your fingers are facing down in the sink so as the water hits your hands it washes any microbes down the drain.
- Don’t forget under your nails, between the fingers, and the wrists.
3. Exercise in the Morning
Physical exercise can break up mucus in the lungs and chest. It can also help to bring that mucus up. Being that the Coronavirus is a respiratory virus, it’s important to keep your lungs as healthy as possible.
I recommend exercising in the morning because at night mucus and phlegm build up and sit in the lungs and chest. Even if the gyms are closed, try exercising at home for at least 30 consecutive minutes.
- Jogging in place
- Jumping jacks
- Brisk walking
- Bodyweight exercises
With congestion comes sickness, your lungs are not readily available to take in the proper amount of oxygen due to fluid and mucus build up.
Exercise along with deep breathing and coughing are good for your lung health. When you feel the mucus making its way out, as disgusting as you may think it is, hack it out, and your body will thank you.
4. Stay Hydrated
Water is also essential for the health of your lungs. It’s actually essential for the health of your entire body, immune system included.
Water can loosen up mucus and help with congestion.
Your body needs enough water to be able to function properly and for your immune system to do its job. Don’t put your body under any unnecessary stress at this time. The organs that cleanse the body and its toxins need enough water to work properly. Water can also improve brain function and energy levels.
- Drink water even when you’re not thirsty
- At minimum drink 8 eight-ounce glasses a day
- Always keep bottled water with you
5. Lay Off the Sugar
Excess sugar in your diet can cause your body to be in a constant state of inflammation. Chronic inflammation allows you to be open to getting so many other diseases and medical conditions.
In the Western diet, we naturally consume a lot of sugar, and I want you to think past soda, candy, and sweets, and think of pasta, rice, and carbs. These starches all break down into sugar, and all contribute to a constant state of inflammation.
When your immune system is being taxed around the clock because of what you’re eating, you can expect to see some side effects from your diet.
- Cardiovascular diseases
- Autoimmune diseases
- Respiratory diseases
- Endocrine diseases
Inflammation plays center stage in almost every major disease including Diabetes, Cancer, Heart Disease, and Asthma.
You need to be supporting your immune system and your entire body at this time with the proper diet and nutrients so it can do its job properly. Limit the processed foods, limit the sugar, the sugar substitutes, and the starch, and give your body and your immune system a much-needed break.
6. No Sanitizer? No Problem. . . Use Lemon
The juice, pulp, and peel of lemon have been known to be antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antioxidant. One lemon has more than your recommended daily amount of vitamin C, it also has zinc and magnesium, giving your immune system a boost.
It protects against various bacterial strains that could harm us. There is much debate about how effective lemon and other fruits that have high phenolic content are in regard to sanitizing and disinfecting.
By all means, this will not replace soap and water but if you’re in public and have no other means this is better and more effective than using nothing at all. If you’re like me and have a bad habit of touching your face, then you definitely need something at all times.
- Clean your hands with squeezed lemon juice when no access to water or sanitizer.
- Squeeze half a lemon in hot water to drink, to give your immune system a boost of Vitamin C and help improve your gut health.
7. Get Your Vitamin D
Receiving an adequate amount of vitamin D is essential to our health and the functioning of our bodies.
Vitamin D deficiency can leave us vulnerable to bacterial and viral infections, and cause our existing medical conditions to become even worse.
Vitamin D supports the immune system. Get adequate Vitamin D intake through sunlight, food, and supplements in order to help protect yourself from getting respiratory infections and keep the Coronavirus at bay.

The God we serve is bigger than any virus that could ever overtake us. Fear and God can not exist in the same place. Let us take the proper precautions we need to keep ourselves and our families safe and leave the rest in The Creator’s hands.
