6 Ways to Start Your Morning Off Right

How would you feel going from having an average lifestyle to one that is fulfilling and extraordinary? Go from a lifeless routine to intentional living.

Implement these 6 tools to transform your mornings and ultimately transform your life. Success is in your daily routine, let’s build yours.

1. Plan the night before

When you write something down it becomes intentional. You can not accomplish a goal or task you don’t set out to do. Every night you need to map and plan out your days in order for them to be productive. Don’t just think about what you have planned to do in your head before you turn off the lights to go to sleep, but actually take the time and effort to plan each hour of your day. This will make your morning routine that much smoother.

Your going to have to take your feelings out of your routine. If you write it down, it’s intentional, it’s important, and it needs to be done.

Press past your feelings because they are fickle, and be consistent with what you need to do.

2. Don’t hit the snooze button

I know how tempting it is, especially when you did not clock in enough hours of rest, but do not hit that snooze button. What you don’t want to do is start your day off in a rush because you didn’t wake up on time, rushing in traffic, arriving late to work and appointments, that’s a no-no.

  • You want to take control of your day. Everything that takes place within your day needs to be a deliberate choice.
  • Your body doesn’t rule you.
  • Your body doesn’t tell you when to wake up or when to stay in bed, you make those decisions. So if you choose to wake up at 5 am, wake up at 5 am.
  • Your body loves routine, and you will have more of a sense of authority and power over your day if you follow through.

Remember you are in control of your life and your day. How you spend your time now will determine where you are 5 years from now.

3. Set yourself up for peace

Every day we are faced with challenges, whether it be inside our homes, at work, at school, or within our communities.

Oftentimes what we see on the news and in the newspaper is not encouraging and should not be the first thing that enters your eye gate in the morning. Avoid your phone and other sources of technology in the morning. Instead, set your mind and your heart up for a day of peace.

However you foster peace, whether it’s showing gratitude, singing, praying, reading, or spending time meditating on God’s Word, do these things right after you wake up to combat any negative energy or thoughts that might pop up during the day.

I personally like to listen to thought leaders when I wake up. This allows me to set the stage for my day. Listening day after day consistently, allows their powerful and motivating words to reach my subconscious mind.

Spend time with yourself, reflecting on positive thoughts, and welcoming positive images of how your day will play out and what you want to accomplish. Consistently work on your spiritual life. This is essential for your mental health as well.

  • We need to hear and see just as much positive material as the negative words and images we constantly come in contact with.

By now, I’m sure you’ve heard me speak about how powerful the mind is, what you constantly meditate on, can affect you either negatively or positively. So meditate, reflect, and focus on the good.

  • Invest just as much energy and time in taking care of your spiritual & mental health just as your physical health.

4. Speak Affirmations

Speak affirmations over your day. How many of you know how powerful your words are? If you don’t, you need to understand this principle now. Your words have the power for whatever you speak to be able to come to pass (but remember, faith without works is dead). Speak with belief and speak with authority.

However, you want your day to play out, whatever goal you need to reach, whatever sale you have to make, or whatever client you have to land, speak it into existence with the belief that it will come to pass. Your words have the ability to change lives, even your own. Not believing that you’re able to accomplish a goal sets you at an immediate deficit.

There are definitely people out there that want you to remain stagnant, that will laugh at your dreams, that won’t be able to receive your vision. Having a strong enough belief system that you can say “I’m going to press forward anyway” is important.

5. Drink Water

While asleep, your body works overtime to revitalize and rejuvenate your system, clearing out toxins, strengthening your immune system, and repairing tissues. The best thing for you to do when you wake up gives the body some help and drink pure water to help flush your system.

Avoid drinking sugary and caffeinated beverages first thing in the morning. Focus on aiding your body in its’ healing process and replenishing your body upon waking up. Your organs will thank you.

6. Move Your Body

Getting your blood pumping is one of the best things you can do in the morning. We all know that working out increases endorphins and can boost our mood, which is a great way to start off the day.

  •  It contributes to our health and makes our skin look instantly better, and aids in hair growth due to the increase in blood flow.
  • It protects your heart and helps fight against the #1 killer across the globe: heart disease.

Even if you can’t work out for the recommended 30 minutes for 5 days, do what you can. Check out this post for some simple tips to keep weight off and lose weight.  Do 5 sets of push-ups and crunches, or go for a walk. Any movement is better than doing nothing at all. By building this discipline of physical fitness, you are investing in yourself, with a habit that you will need throughout life.

Until Next Time With Love,
