What is a Personal Day? And Why You Should be Taking One

Taking time out for yourself despite the Hustle and Bustle of life is like cotton candy & churros. Just a sweet, sweet, experience. Me time is an important aspect of life that I encourage every woman to partake in. Growth and knowledge of self never stops.

As we constantly go through changes and experiences, we learn more about ourselves, more about our Super Powers, and we find more ways to display our strengths. Taking a personal day is an expression of self-love that yields wonderful results. The world is looking to influence us at every corner, through images, radio, word of mouth, & social media. With everyone else’s voice in your ears, it’s important to cancel the noise and hear your soul speak. Let me show you how.

“Without great solitude no serious work is possible.”

Pablo Picasso

1. Pick a Time

Decide how much time you have to sacrifice for your personal day. Whether it’s a few hours or the whole day. Once you determine the time, fit it into your schedule appropriately. Be a woman of your word and follow through on the hours or days you chose regardless of how you may feel or any reluctance. Remember some time is better than no time at all. You may only have a nickel to invest, but interest still builds.. so if you can’t take a full day, do what you can with what you have.

2. Cut off Technology

No electronic devices. No personal calls unless an emergency of course. Let your loved ones know ahead of time you will not be available. The goal here is to spend time with yourself, the purest and the most original form of you. The fewer interruptions the greater your experience, the better your results.

3. Seek Privacy

You need seclusion. For me, my home is my paradise, no one bothers me unless I give them permission to. If this is you, great then you won’t have to do much to find your me space. If this is not you, consider taking a spa day, exploring a new city, or spending the day in nature.

4. Speak to the Creator

The more you seek The Creator, the more you find yourself. The Creator is infinite intelligence. The best counselor and the best adviser that you could ever have. One of the greatest reasons why speaking to The Creator is so cool is that you will learn so much about yourself including your purpose in life. You’ll grow spiritually and you will blossom. You can be vulnerable and free with The Creator.

5. Meditate

As you remain in solitude, your mind will have a tendency to drift on various things. Try to keep your thoughts on you and The Creator, nothing else. Not your problems, not your bills, not your to-do list. Meditate on His Word, deep breath, and pay attention to the cues the Holy Spirit will give you. If you begin to drift, gently bring your attention back to the Word and remind your body and mind that you are in control, and you choose what to reflect and meditate on.

6. Write your Thoughts Down

As your creativity blossoms and ideas pop into your head throughout the hours or days of your me time. Write them down. It may be ideas about your business or career, about how to improve your family life or relationships. It may just be ideas on self-improvement, traits that you want to work on, and areas of your life The Creator has revealed to you that need change. Take this time to write every thought down in complete detail. What The Creator says back to you when you speak especially. Don’t rely on memory alone.

7. Engage with Nature

Engage with nature and do calming activities. It’s something about nature, about trees blowing in the wind, the texture of grass, and the warmth of the sun that can just heighten your mood and lift the spirit. I’m talking about the nature that you can feel, the nature that connects with your spirit. Go to the beach, take a stroll in the park and think, and reflect on your life, where you are and where you want to go, your goals. Go sit under a tree, but remember to do these activities alone.

The Benefits of Investing Time Into Yourself…

1. Confidence Boost

Getting to know The Creator and yourself makes deposits into your soul. You will never stop growing and experiencing new things, and you will never fully know the wonders of God, as he often does surprise us. When you engage with Infinite Wisdom, you’re never left the same. Find more ways to feel great about yourself here.

2. Personal Growth

When we shut out the outside voices, The Creator is able to finally allow His voice to be heard. If we utilize the time wisely, we can do a deep analysis of what exactly we need to change to become better, stronger individuals day by day.

3. Peace & Joy

Being able to step away from the world and show your spirit, the purest form of yourself some TLC truly does bring a feeling of joy and peace.

4. Creativity

Each one of us are different and unique, we all have different things to offer the world in our own special way. One way you can change your life is through thought, the renewing of your mind, and boy is it easier to think clearly when the outside noise is turned off.

“The mind is sharper and keener in seclusion and uninterrupted solitude. Originality thrives in seclusion free of outside influences beating upon us to cripple the creative mind. Be alone—that is the secret of invention: be alone, that is when ideas are born.”

 Nikola Tesla
